Mama’s Caribbean Grill on Central Avenue was opened in 2000 (originally as Reid’s Caribbean Grill) by Vinroy Reid, a native of Jamaica who received the City of Charlotte’s International Entrepreneur Award in 2021. Reid also organizes the Charlotte International Jerk Festival and hosts the radio show Caribbean Connection. Known for oxtail, patties, coco bread and reggae vibes.
